Mandela isent exactly a good guy ... he was imprisoned on Robin Island for a reason (and not just because he dared to speak out against Apartheid). That being said he at least tried to have all parties get along wasent crooked to the core like much of the ANC leadership.

Apartheid was wrong ... I think everyone can agree on that. However, what has changed? South Africa went from a one party state (the South African National Party) to yeah you guessed it ... a one party state (the African National Congress). The ANC is perhaps one of the most corrupt political parties on the planet Earth. South Africa will not be able to truly move on until a party other than the ANC gains power ... something that could very well happen in a future election as the Democratic Alliance feeds off discontent with the ANC.

What other reason would that be?

Quite a bit actually.

That will come as news to the

African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP)
African National Congress (ANC)
African Peoples' Convention (APC)
Azanian People's Organisation (AZAPO)
Congress of the People (COPE)
Democratic Alliance (DA)
Freedom Front + (Vryheidsfront+, FF+)
Minority Front (MF)
Independent Democrats (ID)
Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP)
Pan Africanist Congress (PAC)
South African Communist Party (SACP)
United Christian Democratic Party (UCDP)
United Democratic Movement (UDM)

And those are just the one's that have won seats in the Parliament.

He went to prison for basically violating immigration and labor laws.

While he was there he was found guilty of sabotage and guerilla warfare, (Founding and organizing the militant wing... terrorist attacks) which changed his 5 year sentence to life.

Here's a neat human interest story about one of his hidden weapons:

Oh, and he confessed:

The Rivonia trial - named after the suburb of Johannesburg where several of the defendants were arrested - began eight months ago, with Mandela, 46, and his co-defendants proudly confessing their guilt to plotting to destroy the South African state by sabotage.

Sure, when Iraqis pay reparations for the invasion of Kuwait that led to the first gulf war, and arguably the predecessor to the invasion of Iraq. That would be each and every country that was forced to drive them from Kuwait - primarily US and Britian.

For that matter Iraq can pay reparations to:
Iran for the 1980's Iran/Iraq war and the 300k deaths it caused...
The Kurdish people who were gassed and terrorized (est. 100k victims)...
Israel for the funding of terrorist activities against them...
And it's own people that were terrorized and tortured (est. 250k to 500k executed) for the 30 years of the Saddam regime

My point is simple - lets not even go there. Stay in the P&C forum.

I remember the last time. He was beaten senseless by British citizens. No one has tried it since.

Hey, as a Kenyan...thanks.

It'd be really cool if those receiving the money would put it towards a good cause. I'm sure a nice ngo can be started...or maybe a tech/vocation school.

Or better yet, put it towards the manufacturing/industrial effort. Have a factory utilizing local resources with production aimed at natives in the area.

Really, just don't squander it...which is what will happen.
