I've been interested in Norse mythology and legend for quite a while, due to being a huge Tolkien fan.I love the sagas, and I'm planning on studying Old Norse at uni next year after my HSC is completed. One of my favourites of the sagas, other than The Saga Of The Volsungs of course, is The Saga Of Hrolf Kraki , about an early 6th century Danish king whose kingdom is destroyed by his evil and magically-talented half sister. He's basically a Norse King Arthur.
In reading and researching the saga (mostly for fun and story ideas), I found mentions of a theory that Hrolf Kraki, his father Helgi and brother-in-law Hjorvard were real. His mother Yrsa (who is also his sister) was married to King Adils who was definitely real, but what's the evidence for Hrolf Kraki himself?
Which one? Kraki or Arthur? The connection is both were doomed by family complications from the very beginning.
Kraki, of course.
