YES - Africans, of one tribe, hated Africans of other tribes, so selling them into slavery was a thing that would happen, especially when money was involved.
What historical info can someone go to that would clarify exactly why Africans participated in the slave trade?
Are there any European writings from the slave trading era that would support or cause you to question Dr.Clarke's and Leonard Jeffries' views of African involvement?
Africans were totally and utterly complicit. I mean, it's not as if the slave trade suddenly sprang up the day Vasco de Gama rounded the coastline of Mauritania.
Money probably meant nothing to coastal peoples in West Africa. Congo and Angola because money down't do much good unless you have stuff to buy. The most treasured good that European slavers could provide is firearms and later whem industry come into being in Britain it was cheap trade goods (pieces of bronze or soft iron that could be made into tools) and texiles were popular.
