It's no question that most Sicilians and most Italians south of Salerno have African ancestors. I live around nothing BUT Italians, Puerto Ricans and Blacks. The cultural similarities are astounding when compared to that of German, Irish or some other European-Americans. Of course I probably wouldn't say this to my Italian grandparents, they're the product of a delusional generation whose heritage has been effectively erased from history. It's sad and it's a result of nothing more than racism. I'd like to change that. African history has been raped and destroyed by Europeans.
It's not even just the Sicilians. Spanish, Portuguese, Greek, Albanian, Cypriot, Turkish and most notoriously, Egyptian groups have had their African heritage erased by our Eurocentric society. Egyptian civilization has been stolen from Africa. American and European schools teach that Egyptians were Caucasian rather than African. Numerous Egyptian monuments have been altered throughout history by Europeans. Notably, the Sphinx has been vandalized to hide the African features on the face of the great landmark. The whitewashing of Ancient Egypt is so obvious and pathetic it's not even funny. This has been practised since the 1000s and still continues to this day through the downplay and suppression of evidence in an attempt to make the African people look inferior to whites, as if they could've never created an advanced society.
Ancient Greek and Roman civilizations have likewise been whitewashed throughout history. Africoid features in ancient art have been destroyed by Whites. Greco-Roman gods such as Apollo, Zeus, Hercules and Athena were all based on African deities. In fact, the entire basis of European society was taken from Africa! Eurocentric universities teach their students that our societies are based on the Greek system, but they hide the fact that Greece's society was the offspring of Sub-Saharan African civilizations from centuries prior.
In addition, Biblical figures were all African in origin. Jesus Christ himself was a Black man and the Bible will prove it. It is said that Jesus has "thick, nappy hair like wool and brass skin." Even the Prophet Muhammad was described as having "frizzy" hair and a skin color "as black as night." Why do we cover up these details when teaching religion? Even so called Christians and Muslims have no idea that their entire belief system is thanks to African ideology. Religion once considered Africoid features, especially the hair texture to be "divine." Imagine that!
As much as White society hates to admit it, Africa is to thank for paper, the alphabet, Chemistry, algebra, geometry, trigonometry and just about every other school of mathematics, all the way down to "Arabic" numerals. Where would the world be without these elements of our society? We would be a primitive people.
And so it continues to this day. Ever since the dawn of the 20th century, Europeans have shoved Africans to the side and taken credit for the innovation of just about every aspect of our popular culture. From Vaudeville to Jazz to the cell phone to Rock and Roll to dance to fashion to body image to cuisine and yes, now Hip Hop. Each of these and thousands more have been stolen from Black Americans over the past 100 years. It's sickening. I'm appalled by what is going on. African culture is a beautiful thing that has been butchered beyond the point of no return. The pale, albinistic offspring (I could get into that for days, but I'll hold for now) of the African people have historically been an enemy of pure evil. I'd really love to unite us, but I fear the more I learn about history the harder that is going to become.
Oh and to get back to religion for a minute, you're not looking at Jesus in those paintings. The popular depiction of Jesus is nothing more than Pope Alexander VI's attempt to destroy any lasting evidence of an Africoid Jesus Christ. When Pope Alexander VI came to power the Europeans had finally taken total control over the Roman Catholic Church. The pope actually commissioned Leonardo DiVinchi to recast the traditional depiction of Jesus Christ as an Anglo-Saxan in the image of his son Cesare Borgia. It was just another action of whitewashing based in racism. To this day, there are armed guards stationed around the clock at the entrances of the catacombs to keep anyone from viewing the original wall carvings of Jesus in his legitimate ethnic representation.
Don't you Christians realize that you're worshiping the image of Cesare Borgia, a Catholic Cardinal son of the Pope, who was a closet homosexual, mass murderer, who had an abusive sexual relationship with his sister and was perhaps the boss of the world's first organized crime family?
Havent we all whitewashed the Jesus figure for thousands of years, and all to suit ourselves..like the stories passed on and changed , so have the pictures in our heads, in paintings and sculptures.. I remember my mother passing a remark about someone on telly having eyes like Jesus..fantasty world people have lived in too long, an why its all continued is beyond me..

Any student of the Roman Empire knows that more than one of the emperors was black. History hasn't been whitewashed. It has not been learned, that's all.
There is an attempt in this thread to blackwash history. Lots of luck with that.
People from North Africa and Sub-Sahara Africa have their differences. Just because they are on the same continent doesn't mean they all look alike or identify with each other. Consider: Canadians vs. Mexicans, Chinese vs. East Indians, Scandinavians vs. Mediterraneans, etc.
Jesus was not a black (i.e. Sub-Saharan) African. He was Middle Eastern. People from the Middle East have "thick, nappy hair like wool and brass skin."

Educate yourselves. Wake up...
I think you should start by educating yourself about actual history, not just history as posted on random internet blogs. Black washing as a response to previous white washing isn't furthering anyones understanding or education.

I know this thread is kind of an odd and old one but still...
First of all, you said something about "Italian grandparents" - this and "teh" against "albinistic"-s and (since you're at least half Italian at last, you said it) healthy hate against the Pope Alexander can't move the "Anglo-Saxan" $!t out of my head when you were into Cesare Borgia. Now I know you're American, but... come on dude, Italian = Anglo Saxon?!
Second, Germany and/or Ireland are now The Europe ? Like in entire continent? REALLY, all of us must be like them? Those albinistic grandparents must have some fun now. If they ever existed
Third, blackwashing EU history ain't make yourself and your, whatever, people much better than XIX-th century Europeans with their "white Zimbabwe" and blonde Greeks.
But if there's anything in your dream that makes you happy...

There are few interesting references in the Bible in this respect; one is about "Tree of life," another one - about the "Old tree that went down," and yet another one, the most interesting of them all - a warning to the "grafted branches," that they wouldn't be too boastful.
So. While I don't believe that Italians, Puerto-Ricans, Greeks and what's not have "African ancestors," I do think that they are coming from the same "tree" as Africans. I do agree that all these people share certain things in common; I lived for some time among African Americans, and it was an eye opener for me that Russians, being "Northerners" and "White," most likely belong to the same tree - at least part of them, since their traits in many ways reflect similar cultural ideas.
Therefore ( if I follow the logic of what's been mentioned in the bible in this respect, ) when the "tree" went down, not all branches were saved, so we don't have the whole picture what nations were born from what original ancestors, and how the lineage has progressed. So if we accept a possibility that Blacks and Whites ( at least some of them) had some common ancestor, then arguing whether this ancestor was "black" or "white" might not even make sense, because that ancestor ( according to our modern understanding) would be neither. But at least that would have explained somewhat how those odd ethnic groups of people came about, whose cultures or languages are unrelated to anything else. Sort of small branches have been kept around, ( parts of them,) while the rest of related branches were destroyed.
Sorry I can't tell off top of my mind now the exact numbers of verses that mentioned those things - it's not like I'm sitting and reading bible all the time)))
