There is a story I have heard that after the East German People's Chamber held open elections in 1990, the former head of Stasi or some similar organization was speaking to the new members. He repeatedly used the term "comrade" until one members stood up and asked him to stop, as they weren't communists. He replied that he was just accustomed to calling people comrade, and the members laughed at him. I'm not sure if some of these details are fuddled, but does anybody know the story and is there a video anywhere?
I believe you are referring to Egon Krenz. After a quick search, I didn't find any videos on Youtube in German about him saying Kameraden to the others in the chamber (formerly GDR [German Democratic Republic]=DDR), but maybe you can google and look on other video websites to find it.
