The great enemy of the times was "Commonism" (as J. Edgar Hoover pronounced it). Had Ho simply been a corrupt and flexible dictator (like Prince Sihanouk in Cambodia), there may well have been no war and Ho could have united the country with the support of the US.

- Ike pretty much stayed out of Vietnam whereas JFK went big and put into place the Kennedy Doctrine.

- Ho was a Communist and like all Communists lied about his true political beliefs. He was anything but the "Washington" of Asia. Just another Communist Dictator that killed millions of his own people.

- Diem was South Vietnam's best leader and after JFK and his crones gave the green light to kill him South Vietnam never recovered. Diem was very good at killing Communists and even Ho admired his Nationalist attitude.

- 1956 elections - Have there ever been a election with Communists involved that can be called honest and open elections? Remember, "Uncle Ho" wiped out all his political opponents in North Vietnam and eliminated the Middle and Upper class.

At the end of the day Ho was just another failed Communist dictator that was only good at killing his own people.
