Just a little something I found in the NYT.

Not a big matter, but I've always been glad that he (and his mother iirc) made it through the war and had a good life. It could have gone so much worse.

IIRC, weren't the papers for his diaries first hidden from the Nazis and then the Allies? I read a copy a few years ago, it was fascinating.

It's worth a read! Rommel would comondeer British vehicles he captured since the supply chain was slow and inadequate. At one point there were more british vehicles than German and sometimes the British planes wouldn't fire on them out of confusion.

He even ventured into a British convoy in an Allied vehicle to scope out positions. Little did all the Allied troops know that Rommel was right there beside them!!
