Hey guys, I just came across a pretty interesting story about Americas record breaking pilot who shot down 26 plans during World War 1. I came across a story of his while he was forced to ditch his plane in the South Pacific during World War 2. I don't want to spoil too much of it, so i'll send you guys the link. It also contains other photos from pilots who got shot down at sea.
He was a passenger on the plane not the pilot or part of the crew.
There were a number of flight crews that survived unbelievable amount of time on rafts,
a very good book is "The Raft", it tells the story of Harold Dixon, Tony Pastula and George Aldrich. The trio's plane crashed in the ocean during World War II and they floated in a rubber raft for 35 days with a knife, rusting pistol and a couple of life jackets along side them.
another is Unbroken, Louis Zamperini survived 47 days on a raft
