There are few documentaries extolling the allies technical advances. About the only thing the Germans developed that would have made life a little difficult for the allies, if it went any further, was guided missiles. They were easily jammed by the British, but they had the basics.

The average Japanese army soldier and air force pilot were excellent fighters with the weapons they had at their disposal. The skill of their senior commanders varied greatly, especially in the Navy. The fortifications prepared for US invasions of Japanese islands, after Guadalcanal, were impressive and, as time went on put to excellent use against the US Marines. More importantly, German soldiers were willing to surrender, but not the Japanese.

When the US first fought to take and hold the island of Corregidor, we lost....however the second time, the invasion was successful but with heavy fighting from the Japanese...my dad came home with a purple heart from that second US invasion.
