It was a lot more colorful. Clothes came in rainbow shades for men as much as women, the automobile colors weren't restricted to 10 shades of grey, black, red, and white, movie posters were still done by great artists who weren't afraid of using color, TV shows were more colorful, and the all made life a little brighter for us all.
We are living in a very drab universe in comparison these days. Visual joy is almost nonexistent.
Was today more like the day after yesterday, or more like the day before tomorrow? Inquiring minds want to know.
Are Ohio girls born in '81 more like those born in '82 or '83?
Lol...No seriously, the history board isn't that much active anyway. And, as said above, pop culture is part of history. I really find these questions interesting - others do too (cut them some slack).
Now you can tell people to add these questions over at the Fashion section, but we're not just talking about fashion. Also, the people there talk about physicality of a person (big butts, muscles, eyes, makeup, etc). So, this section at least comes to the closest a bit.
I'm thinking of making some other ones (they're legit, mind you, but laugh it up anyway): "Was 2006 more like 2000 or 2012?" and "Was 1999 more like 1993 or 2005?" - The latter seems interesting though.
I think the "81" in her name refers to her year of graduation (from what, I do not know), based on some of the posts she's made...
Anyway, to answer this question seriously, for younger people, I would say it was more like 2005. More than half of U.S. adults had internet access, a computer was a necessity in every home with children, if you were under 30, you downloaded music, you didn't buy it, etc.
It'd be easier if the question was "was the year 2002 more like 1998 or 2006?", to which their would be a more definite answer.
