I accidentally encountered her on Amanpour. She's so low-key and matter-of-fact that she's not a great interview, but the story is amazing - especially from a teenage girl.

I just had to point out if you go to Amsterdam there is a museum called the "Resistance Museum" which documents the entire struggle by the Dutch against their German occupiers. There are dozens if not hundreds of stories like this one. The courage of those Dutch people who were part of the resistance was overwhelming. Many died or were sent to concentration camps.
The Dutch in WWII were somewhat of an enigma - of all the Nazi occupied countries they had the highest percentage working in the resistance, but they also had the highest percentage of collaborators. You also had, by far, the highest number of volunteers into the SS ranks outside of Germany. Hitler thought of The Netherland and it's people as an extension of the Aryan master race. Many of it's citizens apparently embraced it as well.
The Nazi's also had no need to send it's troops into The Netherlands to collect Jews for the death camps. The Dutch police did it for them - arrested them, held them, then put them on trains. Partly because of the excellent records the dutch kept, and also because of the efficiency of the Dutch police, also amongst occupied countries The Netherlands had the highest Jewish death rate from the Holocaust.
