No more than ISIS was in attacking Syria. Common enemy does mean much now days as we have seen. It is not at all a case like UK and Britain being allies with USSR in WWII.

Many of the actions against the US is purely due to US itself. For example, when I was watching the movie "Argo", I couldn't helping thinking, why is this movie portraying the US as the victim and Iran the villain, when it is the US who overthrew a democratically elected Iranian government, causing resentment among the Iranian people, and therefore the hostage crisis.

For specific incidents, what you say is true, but people within Islam have been at war with each other for 1400 years. Not to mention people within Islam have been at war with every other country they come in contact with, whether that be India, China, Philippines, Russia and many other countries.
When the man who started the Religion is an expansionist warlord, who kills, and enslaves the people they conquer, it's kind of hard to swallow the mantra the West created it all. You can look at the Boka Haram and militants in Sudan and other places in Africa to see how Islam expands violently. People in the US like to think the slave trade died out 160 years ago in the US. You want to see the Slave trade still in full force as it has existed for 1400 years, look to Islamist in Africa.
