Ive seen it happen many times in modern times, if something doesnt go their way, some people will flat out refuse to accept the truth and rewrite history to conform to their belief or how they want to hear, the same thing happens in religion, if one group believes another theory or story they change it by simply rewriting the bible or scriptures to their liking it happens in every Major War, one side says the other committed atrocities or killed innocent people when the other side may have done the same thing

It is generally accepted that all history is written from perspective, and that the best way to study history is counter-subjective. To be very philosophical, it is actually quantum physics- you cannot observe a system without becoming part of it. That is why presenting evidence, and evidence from quality sources, is so very important.

Yes, but this can be overstated because sometimes there is overwhelming evidence for one side or the other. Anyone can make an argument for anything, but the Holocaust deniers, black Egypt advocates, and Atlantis enthusiast have pretty much lost their arguments for lack of evidence.
When things are not so clear, we have historical models that are debated and evolve.

Thing about this is that I have heard it the opposite way. There are people who insist that Chinese invented the compass...perhaps they did, but the Greeks and others invented it independently. It is not as if the Chinese invented it and the invention swept all over the world. Same with the astrolabe. A lot of things were independently invented in China, but that does not mean that they were the sole and only inventors. I think that is where the confusion lies.
When you are talking about inventions, the idea of convergent evolution applies. There are only so many correct ways of putting something together, so people often independently invent the same thing, because, for lack of a better way of saying it, it is the next logical and obtainable step.
