It's a beautiful ship and that's one sure way to make a statement to the enemy, that what they thought was destroyed on September 11th 2001, has risen from the ashes and is now much more potent than two 110-story skyscrapers in New York city.

I agree, and if The USS New York has to fire its weapons in anger, let us hope and pray that all those who were murdered during the 911 event will be able to turn over and rest for eternity. Let us NEVER forget!

I watched a program a few months ago on the History Channel about the World Trade Center, and it was eerie seeing footage of both towers under construction, and the steel columns rising skyward. Who would have guessed back then that some 30 years later they would come crashing down as a result of terrorist attacks, and some of the steel would be reused to build a mighty ship to defend our freedoms.

Urban Legends Reference Pages: USS New York

The story is true, but that is a very nice picture of LPD 17 USS San Antonio.

LPD 21 USS New York won't be delivered until late 2008.

This is an article and a picture of the real USS New York.
