You are right, the tank business was unrealistic.

What if Napoleon was able to get ahold of a bunch of those nasty creatures from the Alien movies and turn 'em loose on the Russians?

That mighta changed a page or two in the history books!

I read in a book by one of the known Napoleonic specialist that it was found that the largest army a commander could control on the field of battle was about 60,000 men or so. Communications to/from distant units or wings of the army was too slow to react quickly to battlefied events. I think maybe it was in Christoper Duffy's book.
