You can't be serious! The divisiveness, stereotyping, and demonization shown by the self-appointed "progressives" who seek to dominate this site make Reagan look like Shirley Temple.
I have no idea but i was a kid when i saw lawyers start advertising on TV for the first time in the late 1980s i think.
That was probably more to the "era of greed" vs the "era of PCness." The ads were not for discrimination or stuff like that, just like today it was accidents and malpractice.
I remember the first lawyer ad i saw on TV and thinking like, "WTF?!" and i could not even express why it bothered me . . . . .It was like they were supposed to be "top tier professionals" like doctors yet here there were, begging for business.
Much later, an elderly teacher of mine was able to put my thoughts into words and said, "What happened to the dignity?"

Growing up in Virginia during the 70s & 80s we had access even on cable to not only the Washington DC channels but all of the Baltimore stations as well. I don't remember seeing very many lawyer ads on the DC stations at the time but on the Baltimore channels especially on WBFF channel 45 there were a lot of such ads so much so I had really thought Baltimore was "lawyer central". However that would change in the summer of 1988 when I had moved to Colorado and had the chance to sample Denver television and oh my my my...it really seemed like every other ad was for some legal firm...car accidents, divorce, bankruptcy, medical malpractice, slip & falls...sue sue sue !!! Looking back now I bet such ads was what kept KWGN channel 2 and KDVR channel 31 on the air when the Mile High City was going through it's mid to late 80s oil bust and the local economy tanked badly. Well maybe with KDVR since Chicago's WGN probably paid KWGN's bills in those days to keep them afloat.

A video of the encounter posted by Scotty Jordan on Facebook has gone viral with over 4 million views.
Environmental Specialist Joe Graham showed up on Jordan’s property and read the county’s public nuisance ordinance, which he said Jordan was violating.
other stuff that prove people's mindset has changed a lot in regards to complaints
