This is the earliest known flag that has 13 red and white stripes. It was captured by Banastre Tarleton of the British. It was handed down to his offspring and relatives for generations until being brought back to America and sold by Sothebys Auction. It was thought to bring about 4 million dollars but they were wrong. It ended up selling for 12.7 million dollars. It belonged to the 2nd Continental Light Dragoons also known as Sheldons Horse of Connecticut.
It also is one of the best preserved flags of the American Revolution.
