I would go back in time about a week and get naked and hide in the bushes near my house and when I saw me coming around the corner on my way home from work I'd jump out, wave my arms like an orangutan and go; "Boogey, Boogey, Boogedy!" man, the look I'd have on my face would be priceless!

I'd save myself the trouble and just punch myself in the face while standing in front of a mirror... naked, of course.

I would travel back to the most recent big Powerball jackpot that nobody hit and buy a ticket with the winning numbers. If I limited that to no more than 6 months I could cash it in after I got back.

I would go back to Thermopaly at the Hot Gates because I have always wanted to know just how many other Greeks were really there other then the 300 Spartans ? And I would count the Persians to see if it was really 500,000 there or only about 100,000 ? But I would take a calcutotor with me. LoL Ron

Well, people always think about using time travel to get rich...

Maybe we should limit our time machine in a way that it can only go back to years before 1950, never to a year after that....

I would use the time machine for one of two very noble endeavors:

*Preventing the rise of Hitler, or
*Preventing the rise of the time-travel fictional device

I'm just not sure which action would be of greater benefit to mankind...

How do you imagine the present would be when you returned to 2015 (or 2016, or 2017)?

Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and the North of Africa would never be conquered by Arabs, and those countries would not speak the Arabic language.

Al-Andalus would never have existed in Spain.

Alhazen would probably never been born, and never wrote his treatises on optics, astronomy, mathematics, meteorology, visual perception and the scientific method...

The present would be so different that you could barely recognize it... Maybe when you came back, you couldn't be able to communicate with people, because no-one would speak your variation of the English language.

Since I invented this thread, let me think what I could do...

Well, I could time travel to the year 370 and try to impress Roman emperor Valentinian I with some modern science knowledge, being careful so he didn't think I was doing any "witchcraf" (he really hated that).

Then I would propose a deal to him: he would abolish slavery in all of the Roman Empire, and stablish that all workers should be free and receive a minimum wage, and in exchange I would teach the Romans how to build electric generators, electric motors, primitive electric computers, electric printing presses, electric trains, telegraph, and radio. And electrified fences against barbarians. I would want to be the governor of all of Iberia too.... Would stay at least a decade there before coming back and seeing the mess I did to the "present".
