I'm from New Zealand and was thinking about how Maori (our indigenous population) and their creation story involves our two Islands (a stingray and a boat) and how they were fishing and fished up the North Island according to legend. Considering they obviously discovered NZ by boat I wondered if this fishing and boat story could have basis in how they actually got here. e.g were fishing and discovered NZ. Regardless of whether this is true or not it got me thinking about other indigenous people and their stories. Are there any that give clues to how they got there, what happened to them and is there evidence to back up the myths? If you know of any let me know (:
