I wasn't even born then but I do wonder who here remembers when Reagan was shot and how they and others felt?

I was in my high school gymnasium's locker room. It didn't make a big impression on me (I was immature, I despised Reagan, and so I didn't care too much about what happened to him).

I do.

I was 12 years old, but I was a news junkie even at that young age. I remember that back then, the television was the only source of immediate news other than the radio. No internet, no constant updates. All of the networks broke into regular programming. I remember that multiple news-feeds incorrectly announced that Press Secretary James Brady had died, before eventually correcting themselves.

In looking at this video, I am reminded also of the fact that initial reports were that President Reagan was not hit.

It was early afternoon on a cold early spring day and I was at work when I heard the news.

I'm old enough to clearly recall the day JFK was shot, and my reaction was "Oh no! Not again!"

Fortunately, Reagan's attacker was way less lethal.

Sure, I was at work. I worked at a media firm, so we always had a tv or two on.

I was in San Diego at the time. I think it was around the middle of the day and I was getting ready to go to the beach. I had the TV on and that's where I saw the news.

For the record, though, even Reagan himself did not initially know that he got shot.

Was at work in the plastic vacuum forming factory. Forming walls for "porta johns".

So didn't pay much attention til later that evening. Had an adult education class in "basic landscaping". By that time it seemed as though Reagan was likely to survive and the topic was mostly about "who was in charge, at the White House".

I was just past my fourth birthday when Kennedy was shot. I remember my mom crying when the neighbor lady called with the news, and watching the coverage on the television. Even remember details of the furnishings and carpet on the floor of that day. Only memories I have from that early of an age, however.

Certain happenings can certainly cement a time, and place in one's mind.
