People remember the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, etc. for different cultural trends, fashion, and fads. What do you think the 2000 decade will be remembered for? 2010s(so far)?

Here's what I think:

2000s:
- Myspace (Both the rise and the fall)
- Razor phones
- The rise of texting
- The "emo" and "scene" subculture
- iPods
- Skater fashion
- Gel Bracelets
- AIM
- The punk/pop music era of Good Charlotte, Avril Lavigne, Simple Plan, etc.
- Music burned onto a CD
- Napster and Limewire
- Livestrong bracelets
- The rise of reality tv
- Bleaching your hair
- Guys growing out their hair

2010s(so far):
- Smart phones
- Tablets
- More social media such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Tumblr
- FitBit(and other similar devices) craze
- "Hipster" fashion/subculture
- Selfies becoming a thing
- Electronic music
- Man-buns(ugh)
- Netflix
- Comic book superhero movies
- Kardashians(double ugh)
- Cable shows rising in popularity (Breaking Bad, Walking Dead, Duck Dynasty)

Don't forget the post 9-11 stuff... TSA, Patriot Act, travel restrictions, hysteria and hand wringing about large public gatherings.

For 2010 and so far...Can't forget the rise of online streaming media. Yes there was such a thing before then but it more/less restricted. I can remember back in 1998 wanting to watch the farewell newscast of Irv Weinstein on Buffalo's WKBW-TV. I was living in West Virginia at the time however when I tried to watch the clip on WKBW's website I got a notice from them saying the clip is not available outside of Buffalo. Even during the years between 2000 and 2010 sometimes I would still encounter a similar notice when trying to catch a stream from a radio or TV station saying due to my location the stream is not available. Heck even my own radio station did this as recently as 2008..."sorry but our stream is not available in your area !!". In our case it was I believe outside the 100 mile radius of Hagerstown, Maryland.

Today pretty much anyone thanks to Tune In, Iheart and the other apps/websites one can access anyone from anywhere. Now I am sure that there are exceptions ( maybe sports for example ) but I have to admit it had been years since I had received such a notice.
