When the soldiers came back from World War II they were so glad to be alive and their wives were so glad to have them back alive that they couldn't wait to get to the bedroom and celebrate. There was soon a boom in births and the generation begot by the Greatest Generation became known as the Baby Boom Generation. The Boomers graduated into a work world of charts and data and so their children became known as Generation X. The children of the Gen Xers came along just in time for that once in a thousand years event when a new millennium begins so they have been called the Millennials.
Now the Millenials are beginning to have children. What will this newest Generation be called?
I will suggest three names: the Twenties, the Spacers, the Wildflowers.
1) The Twenties because they will begin coming of age in the 2020s. (Giving them perfect eyesight?)
2) The Spacers because they will witness the opening of Space.
Shouldn't we have higher hopes than that? (Unless you're talking about Bible Prophecy and the Second Coming of Christ--which we don't know when that will be.)
It's too early to name that generation. The Greatest Generation or GI Generation(as Strauss-Howard called them) only got that name long after most had entered adulthood and World War II was remembered as a heroic victory. People also forget that there's an entire generation in between the GI Generation and the Baby Boomers known as the Silent Generation that was too young to fight in World War II but alive during the conflict.
Generation X only got their name after a book written in the early 90s by someone on the cusp of that generation, when the majority of the age group was in their 20s.
