I just watched "Bombing Hitler's Super Gun" before I left for work on Detroit's NOVA/PBS.

If this is the series think it is saw it already.

What strikes me is how much the German military were able to accomplish and how far worse (for Allies) but better for them if Hitler stopped interfering and let those who knew what they were doing have free reign.

The United States benefitted greatly post WWII in many areas from not only what they could take out of Germany (plans, equipment, planes, etc....) but brain power as well since many former Nazi/German military and others ended up on American soil after the war.

V-2 rocket inventor Wernher von Braun was very active in the US space program. //www.city-data.com/forum/newre...e=1&p=44029897

The Third Reich pissed away considerable amounts of resources on fantastic weapons that simply were not practical. The V-2 is a classic example. It could carry less than a bomber, with far less accuracy and far greater cost. The cost of the program would have been better allocated for heavy bombers.

Hitler was obsessed with bigger and louder. Germany had some fantastic tanks - that were not easily mass-produced and serviced. The fastest and most accurate weapon is not better if it's difficult to deliver in numbers and a nightmare to operate in the field. As has been said, quantity has a quality all its own.

For all the ooo-ing and aah-ing over shiny contraptions, the simple things - like trucks and artillery - had far greater influence over the war than a relative handful of jets, or ballistic missiles with an accuracy measured in miles.

Hey, at least we helped you win the race to the moon with this stuff and personnel. Now, that must have been worth it.

No, it's simply continuous effort to dismantle Germany as country of any significance, esp military. this comes with continuous derogatory nation presentation under any pretext possible and re running ad nauseam same information. Also gives more paychecks to all those who do nothing more but yeck on TV.
Mix into that tossing thousands of rather belligerent "refugees" into the country, reducing its birth rate to nothing, and here we go. Rammstein alone won't recover it.
