These communist hunting warriors knew how to turn up the heat, they brushed with greatness, but were unable to stop the infiltration of our government and institutions of higher learning. Their loss is our loss, Berkeley and mob rule would soon be upon us, even the great Ronald Reagan could not stop it.

I do believe that Mr. Mofford has expressed himself as an admirer of McCarthyism.

He thinks Nixon was the greatest president in history from what I can tell. He has praised Spanish dictator, Francisco Franco. He thinks Pat Nixon was the greatest first lady ever. I think he believes he is in the fiction forum.

OK, I had some really great speeches in my post above that was deleted, so I will go ahead and post those here again in smaller blocks, for easy digestion, thus providing the balanced nutrition (royal jelly) this thread needs to get past the larval stage and swarm.

I might say a word or two about Joseph McCarthy, up there looking down upon us with Roy Cohn (he lives in St. Peter's closet, keeping it free of communists). They had the right idea but their methods were a little too harsh for the average American. Without the support of Ike, the mission was doomed to failure when they went up against the army. With McCarthy's quest to shake the reds out of the defense department, although his tactics may have been bullish, we must remember the big slam dunk by Mr. Welch, "Have you no decency sir, must you assassinate this young lad any further, blah blah". This was really a phony statement to take the heat off himself and lay into McCarthy. That young lad, Fred Fisher, had just been fired by Joe Welch a day before this famous exchange between him and McCarthy, and this was reported by the NY Times before that hearing.

Welch fired Fred Fisher because he was a member for several years in the National Lawyers Guild, a communist front organization and den of slime that would continue it's anti American agenda for decades, such as in 2003 when NLG attorney Lynne Stewart was convicted of conspiracy and providing material support to terrorists, sentenced to ten years in prison, and disbarred, for helping pass messages from prison for Omar Abdel-Rahman, her former client and mastermind of the 1993 World Trade Center bombings.

Fred Fisher was a lawyer appointed by Joe Welch to assist him in the purpose of these hearings, to root out communists, Welch, not intentionally, picked this guy that was once in a communist front organization, to help him on this committee to rid the defense department of communists! McCarthy was in the right to go after him, and to push and harass Welch for his hesitation in getting rid of Fisher, whom never would have been fired if not for the efforts of McCarthy. Truth told, McCarthy did expose a great number of communists that were passing info to the USSR, not all were real communists, but sympathizers of the far far left in sensitive jobs, or uncooperative people that were protecting other more dangerous types that would sell us out to the Russians in a heartbeat. Better to be safe than sorry.

Robert Welch, founder of the John Birch Society, a great speech he saved from a 1958 document, delivered in LA, 1974. All I can say is WOW, Mr. Welch was a true prophet looking into our national soul. Immerse yourself in this speech, feel the commie goo drain from your head, running out your ear canal (use funnel drip into garbage can) then smile as the infectious puss is replaced with the powerful pharmaceutical energy that only a republican can deliver (and it's free today, normally costs $15,000)

Finale to Pat Buchanan's Culture Wars Speech, 1992. Worth a visit to youtube to see the whole speech, and while you're at it, why not bask in the sweet aroma of his 80's CNN Crossfire appearances? Let Pat wash away your red tide, so that someday thou might be prepared to enter the house of Nixon in Yorba Linda with out fear.

Watch Ben Stein speak at Liberty University, then immerse yourself thoroughly into the body of the "Ben Stein truth about Nixon" thread. Then and only then, can you be prepared to receive the petro-riches of Henry Kissinger, wealth that only an American can receive. (from Saudi Arabia and Iraq)......as ordained by the right arm of Ronald Reagan (the late Jerry Falwell, a meaty appendage that connected Reagan with God (with thin silicon barrier between, so astrologer can control overload and regulate timing, to thwart the plots of Satan). Sorry, I have no link for anti gravel software to use on Ben Stein's voice in this speech, but he says Bueller three times towards the end, so that makes up for it. Enjoy!

I agree with both of you. McCarthy went to far in destroying lives rather than sticking to serious Communism and subversion, which definitely existed. McCarthy crossed that bridge when he went after people for attending an occasional meeting as a youth.

Welch got his "sir, have you no sense of decency" moment when McCarthy began attacking a 27 year old junior lawyer for having attended a single questionable meeting years before.

I myself am now 59. In the fall of 1979 I attended a meeting of the "Lawyers Guild" at Boston University Law School. After attending I decided that the group, which was almost Communist, did not reflect my views. Should that attendance have subjected me to a withering, public attack by the likes of Joe McCarthy?

jbgusa, I am getting conflicting information about Fred Fisher and how long he belonged to the National Lawyers Guild. Welch claims that Fisher told him he had only belonged to the NLG for a few months. Other articles state that he was in the Guild "while attending law school and quit shortly afterwards". He definitely had more than one meeting under his belt, and when you consider he was only 27 years old, and had belonged to the NLG while in law school, and shortly afterward, that was about 1/4 of this guys life spent in a communist front organization. So yes, I believe he was a risk and his removal was proper. Judging from his record after the hearings, I don't think he was ever involved in communist activity thereafter, probably because McCarthy scared him straight !

Now I would like to repost the rest of my deleted videos. Jack Webb was a great spokesperson for law enforcement, some my find his message unfashionable by today's standards, but I have respect for his work on Dragnet.

And last but not least, the greatest speaker in American Cinematic History, Lee Ermey, combating the problem of obesity with his encouraging words. The schools should copy his method of fighting obesity, it is so much more effective than the attempts made by Michelle Obama to tackle this problem.

I didn't cause the deletion of any of your videos.

My problem with NLG membership being cause for suspicion is that the organization promotes itself as doing what we today would call networking. When I went to the one meeting the NLG's communist aspects weren't obvious. I mentioned going to the meeting to my parents and others, and one of them alerted me.

I suspect they may have soft-pedaled the group's nature, especially back then.

Ronald Reagan's use of parables always impressed me. It was always interesting hearing anecdotes and narratives to convey a message.
Another very good public speaker is Barack Obama, although he speaks more about larger ideas than specific examples as with Reagan. Maybe not the best "historical" example as a sitting head of state, but his public speaking style is phenomenal.

If I am to think of non-American examples, Winston Churchill and Mao Zedong were both very good at speeches that moved their message along very well.
