So historys greatest lie is one that was never actually told and that no one ever believed?
Perhaps if you wish to properly educate yourself about the actual great lie about American slavery, that the American Civil War was caused by something other than it, you should seek sources of information outside of the usual right wing propoganda outlets.
To answer the OPs question, the obvious answer is the existence of god (s). It is both the most absurd and the most politically influential of all the lies ever told.

Folks, seriously. Existence of god is not a historical question. Philosophical, scientific, theological - but NOT historical. Existence of say Jesus Christ - yes. But not god.

That "homo sapien" is indeed "wise man"...I'm not buying it. Using man as a general term for both sexes.

As my limited understanding of evolution goes, it doesn't claim apes to humans.

I remember learning in school about Magellan sailing around the world. He only made it to Cebu.

You're quibbling. It claims that present day apes and present day humans had a common ancestor.

They did, by definition, since humans are apes.
But this is a biological - taxonomic, specifically - issue. Not really 'history'.
This thread was seemingly designed, whether by intent of just happenstance, not to be a discussion of history but an invitation for people to air their pet ideological issues, lurid conspiracies, and inability to differentiate between opinion and fact.
