Let's say hypothetically there is a scenario (even as unlikely as it may be) where at the end of WWII both Nazi Germany and the USSR were completely destroyed. Hitler, Stalin and everyone close to both of them are dead and in ruins. What do you think it would mean for the world?
Honestly, wouldn't that be the most ideal scenario? Nazi Germany is destroyed and no more genocide and such, but also no eastern europe under communist control and no cold war.
But Communist China would still be there as the cold war counterpoint...and essentially, USSR was destroyed and in ruins, or as close to it as one can get. But they were not defeated, occupied, and broken apart as Germany was. So we have to revisit your scenario and ask more details such as in what manner would a huge country like USSR be "destroyed" so that it does not reemerge as a world power. I see no feasable historical scenario that doesn't put us into the "outer limits" fantasy category. Stalin dead - doesn't matter.
Anyways you see your scenario now - the world lived with 2 faction cold war for 45 years now for the last 25 years we have had one sole world power. There is your answer.
But Communist China would still be there as the cold war counterpoint...
Not necessarily, as the Red Chinese, (if we're still allowed to use such a term) didn't win until 1949. Could they have won without any outside support whatsoever? I don't think so.
So, what would the world look like? Just read, "The Man in the High Castle". The book is an alternate history where the Axis win, but which contains within it, an alternate history within the alternate history where the US & UK win. The world is divided into two blocs: The US bloc, and the ever expanding British Empire. Yeah, kind of far-fetched, but there is your alternative world where both the Nazis and the Ruskies are defeated.

I will have to check out that book but far-fetched indeed - the UK...like France they reemerged from the war as a second rate power. They were devastated financially and survived by being propped up by the US. Besides the US/Brit "special relationship" it would be hard to fathom outright competition between the two countries.
China indeed was in the midst of a Civil War but regardless of outside support the KMT was doomed. While the republic was fighting the Japanese, Mao and the Communist PLO ran to the hills for the most part and bid there time and grew stronger. Kai-shek's troops had had no fight left, not much.
