I guess.

World
A man who claimed to be the world’s oldest person has died at the age of 146, it is claimed.
Mbah Gotho, from Indonesia, was said to have documentation that showed he was born in 1870.

May 2017 I believe.

What a wonderful life affirming story. Surviving Hitler's genocide and living to 113. Where ever you are sir rest in peace.

Personally I love reading these posts about the very old people that have passed on. I find reading about them fascinating for some reason. Maybe I'm just boring. But heck, it's sure not boring to me and I certainly don't whine about what other people find interesting which I can absolutely do without (which apparently is a lot of things! But hey, different strokes is what makes the world go round!).
Often so many of them had such interesting lives - especially those with WWII experiences.

This reminds me of a Kurt Vonnegut story called, I think, "Adam," about a man awaiting the birth of his child - a Holocaust survivor savoring the miracle of still being alive.

You know a person is old if when they die no one asks "how did he die." He died of nothing, He died of life itself.

Not in this case. He didn't die of "life itself". He lived to be the world's oldest man IN SPITE OF "llfe itself"! They call it, dying of old age. He'd lived out his genetic lifespan, if not beyond it, and against some pretty fierce odds, to say the least. Good for him!

Mbah Gotho, while he almost certainly lived to a very old age, almost certainly didn't live to 146. The oldest reliably documented person to live was Jeanne Calment who died at 122 in 1997. The evidence shows that Mbah Gotho probably lived to be over 100, but nowhere near 146. 106 maybe. Still a very long life.

For a man to live to 113 is quite a feat. And also considering how traumatic his life was being in a concentration camp. If you look at the lists of the world's oldest people who have been confirmed with substantiated documents, the vast majority of the oldest are women.

I also doubt also the elderly Indonesian man lived into his 140s with absolute certainty.
