Hello Board
On my Grandfathers Enlistment papers {British Army WW1} it says he served with the 7th Infantry 1903-1909 USA Army {no State given] How would I go about finding out his service records

I think I would start in the UK...the time it says he served in the US Army is before the War...not sure what records are available there... I'm pretty sure that if you have the person's service #, you might be able to find out something.. sorry I could not help more..

The Unit your Grandfather probably served in was the 7th Infantry Regiment of the regular US Army,more affectionately known as "the cottonbalers" for their heroic defense of New Orleans in the war of 1812,although designation of state regiments wasn't abolished until WWI,he could have been in the National Guard.7th Infantry Division wasn't created until 1917.Google 7th US Infantry regiment,they have a website.
