How about the Gogebic Mountain Range in The Upper Peninsula in Michigan? I paid attention in the 4th grade.

Okay, I didn't see an answer to this one. Voyageurs were French trappers who traveled by boat. See? I did pay attention in the 4th grade. When Detroit celebrated it's tri-centennial a few years back, a voyageur paddled up the Detroit River to start the opening ceremony.

I wasn't sure of the spelling, so googled it and learned something new. French trappers and traders were often known as forest runners, coureurs de bois.
