Well, OP, you said in your title "people". How do you define that term? Homo Sapiens Sapiens? Or would Home Erectus fit the bill? Homo Erectus was dated at 1.8 million years ago in the Caucasus (Georgia), some 5-10 years ago. Then, this year, even older dates for Erectus turned up in China. So yes; the Chinese find is certainly believable, because it had already been established that Erectus was in Georgia at a time of similar antiquity.
Quote:
Dmanisi (Georgian: დმანისი, translit.: dmanisi, pronounced [dmɑnisi]) is a town and archaeological site in the Kvemo Kartli region of Georgia approximately 93 km southwest of the nation’s capital Tbilisi in the river valley of Mashavera. The hominin site is dated to 1.8 million years ago. It was the earliest known evidence of hominins outside Africa before stone tools dated to 2.1 million years were discovered in 2018 in Shangchen, China.

Also it's not really factual to call these "people" our ancestors, or even the ancestors of the Chinese. The Chinese still descended from homo sapiens who migrated out of Africa from a much later date. It would be like calling the Mississippian culture people the ancestors of modern day America, well maybe for a few people, but most people in the US have a separate lineage.
When throwing around numbers like "2 million years ago", anything is possible. Flying monkeys, Indians on the moon, blue trees, chicken people, etc.
There are people desperate for attention, and ready to float any idea or theory on the Internet.
This lacks merit or attention as "History".
lolol! I have no idea what you're talking about! Blue trees? Chicken people? lol
It's not a big deal, if you have an interest in, and keep up with developments in, paleo-anthropology, the development of the human race, it's various early branches, and that sort of thing. It's normal. You've just been out of the loop, that's all. The "2 million years ago" wasn't taken out of thin air. This is from scientific dating techniques of human remains and/or artifacts.

Calm down. lol
I agree. And if anyone really wants to have fun lurk on an archeology forum!
There is no general consensus amongst them. I remember the old ARCH-L listservs in the 1990s. Wow, they were like rival siblings.
We have photographic proof that fully formed humans were around a million years ago.....as well as proof that the dinosaurs did not all die out 65 million years ago.
What do you think of this? Is it too soon to accept it?
Not much interest by me. To me, the question is, when did civilization leave Africa, and in what direction did it spread?
