During the 19th and 20th century why was communism so accepted in certain countries/regions even despite how inherently evil it was? The USSR was undeniably a very evil regime.
I mean, can anyone name one country at all that was communist and ruled by good people?
This doesn't answer your question but I feel that communism is popular now via the liberal party. A lot of the same ideas espoused by the communists have gained support from many liberals.
I feel that communism came into the picture when there was a power void in certain countries. It also was accomplished with an iron fist as with any extreme and dictatorial-type belief system. People were too intimidated to try and fight back against it so it flourished. You also had people that wanna work hard for what they have and preferred a handout. I have noticed that communism is popular among the hive-minded folks and believes in this idea of unity on all fronts which includes equal in thought.
It's worth reading about Communism as originally "invented." (Not that I favor it; I don't.) The 20th century version of it got tied to dictatorship. Authoritarian dictatorship, whether Leftist or Rightist, is really the problem, in any century.

Communism in the 19th century was just getting off the ground as a political movement; thus, your characterization of it in that century is knee-jerk 1950's BS. Once you go back to the books and get a correct understanding of the history of communism, you might be able to talk about it in the 20th century. As it stands now, however, you have simply propped up a strawman as a target for tirades.
And do put on your Memory Cap and recall that democracy, that epitome of all political virtue, has happily accommodated human slavery in both ancient and modern times, and in the U.S. it had a history of decades of restricting voting to a small segment of the white male population. So much for democracy, right?
But I doubt that you would be satisfied with this lopsided strawman as the beginning of a reasonable discussion of democracy and an exploration of its developments in various times and places. No fan of communism here, but your OP is wallowing in so many equally canned stereotypes as your first step that it cannot promote a discussion only denunciations.
Seriously, why not give the topic a more open, neutral focus for a start, and then see if a discussion develops, rather than a parade of old John Birch Society quotes.
Communism isn't 'evil', in fact in theory it is the exact opposite!! The idea of Communism is a good one - the problem is human nature and human greed, people will ALWAYS take more than their 'share' if they can and that is the biggest single reason why Communism doesn't work.
