And it's not Napoleon Dynamite or the pig from Animal Farm...

Napoleon III may not be a bad choice if your country needs a lot of urban renewal projects done.

Hitler is well liked in India, and many places Americans not think of

Well, he was really nice to the Jews though.

I wouln't think so. Otto von Bismark was a German conquerer from the same century (though much later), and I don't think that many people today consider him "one of history's greatest criminals".

There is little or no comparison between Napoleon and Otto von Bismark in terms of breadth of conquest and its influence.

So what if they were from the same century? Among other things, the technological economic landscapes were significantly different.

Otto von Bismark is comparable to Camillo Benso (who?), roughly contemporaries and similar roles in the history of the nations that they spawned in the early decades of industrialization, but second wave compared to United Kingdom, France and even United States, and they share similar images in posterity.

Again, in my view at least, Napoleon is comparable more along the lines of Alexander the Great and Genghis Khan.

I'm struggling through this one. It's long, over 1,000 pages. It covers the good, the bad and the ugly side of Churchill in tremendous detail, and tries to put the "ugly" in the context of the age in which he lived, his class, and Britain's colonial empire, and assigns some (perhaps not enough) guilt where it is due.

If you have trouble sleeping, this is the book for you...in the sense that you can only take so much of it before you fall asleep.

Otto von Bismarck did not make himself Emperor and then attempted to conquer or dominate all of Europe. He maneuvered in order to achieve a simple political goal - ensuring Prussia would dominate a unified German sphere - which he successfully achieved. He then went on to mostly safeguard this accomplishment.

That's why he didn't end up living out his days on a remote island in order to keep the rest of the world safe.
