I've read that at least according to the executioner, after he burned Joan of Arc twice her heart and entrails were left over and he then tried to burn those but couldn't. However, some sources seem to report this in a matter-of-fact way while others preface it with something like "the executioner said" or "some stories say", so I'm not clear on whether there's a lot of testimony for it or just the testimony of a few people. Does anyone know? Can anyone point me to a credible source on this matter?

What 'sources'? There are no credible sources for such outlandish accounts.
Jeanne d'Arc was burned at the stake in 1431. She was 'retried' in 1455/56, when the Church decided she was to be rehabilitated. This is the time from which all the miraculous accounts come, including the assertion that her heart wouldn't burn. It's no coincidence that once it was determined that she was to be a martyr instead of a heretic, miracles were suddenly fresh in memories.
Also, the cleric who made the claim about her heart not burning soon adding another - of a white dove supposedly leaping from her body up through the flames and flying away.
I'll be a smart alec. If it didn't burn than where is it now?
I dunno….But my favorite relic is the middle finger of Galileo, the one he waved bye-bye to The Pope with as he was marched off to house arrest. "Eppure, si muove." You gotta love his Attitude.
