Look through the various forums. This topic has come up several times over the years. Just because you've never seen a thread about a topic doesn't mean it hasn't been on here. Lots of topics get repeated. I don't see every thread either. I didn't say the OP was obsessed with anything. Read all of the words.

I didn't exist during WW2, but learned a lot from my parents and their peers about what life was like during those years, and where they were when Pearl Harbor was attacked, or when FDR suddenly passed away.
Did I say it didn't happen? Nope. Sure didn't.

I was in 5th grade, in school when we heard the news. The staff herded us all (K-6) into the cafeteria and set up a (black and white) TV so we could watch the news.

I was in 7th grade French class. The principal came in and whispered to our teacher and she started crying. Then she told the class what had happened and most of us, especially the girls, started crying as well. I still remember the days following when we all watched the funeral on television and the absolute sense of bleakness that everyone seemed to be feeling. It was as if a pall had fallen over the entire nation.

I was six years old at home with mum. I seem to recall my parents talking about it at some point.

I was in high school Biology class. We first had an announcement over the PA that President Kennedy had been “shot in the eye”. Shortly after it was announced he was dead and everyone was shocked and upset.

When we got home, we were glued to the tv all the rest of the week. My mother cried when John Jr. saluted his dad as the coffin went by. One of the only times in my life I ever saw her cry.

Just for perspective JFK died in 1963 about 100 years after the civil war (1861-1865). Which is a little bit less time than has elapsed since WWI (1914-1918). JFK was also born in 1917, 56 years after the start of the Civil War. Right now it’s been 57 years after his assassination.

Default prez kennedy

I was in third grade in PS 138 - Queens - Teacher told us President was dead and we were let out of school.
I came home - my mom was crying - and she was Republican.
We watched the replays on TV ( all 10 channels).
When Ruby shot Oswald - my dad said - this is a conspiracy.

I was never a fan of JFK - his Daddy bought the election/he was a know it all rich boy and womanizer.
but I respect the office of President.
I wonder what America would be like if he wasn't assassinated.
