He was part of the rough riders, got shot and still managed an hour long speech and was able to inspire people. I love his "Man in the Arena" speech:

He was most certainly a major badass. Why can't we have Presidents like him anymore?

He was a LIBERAL by <<cut>> standards. LOL

All the presidents were human with feet of clay. Even the founding father presidents. Teddy was a militarist and thought a good war builds character. Speak softly and carry a big stick and all that. All of them found out they werent god when elected. Govt always has been like herding cats and keeping the cats and dogs from fighting to the death.

I would say FDR was probably most influential president because of the times in which he was president. Could easily have gotten a fascist dictator during those times like the Germans got. Looking for any fancy grandiose promises of a better life and ending up scraping up the rubble. The <<cut>> could take a history lesson, but they have their blinders on and 'know better'... LOL

If having military experience, popular support, and surviving a gunshot is the test of the toughest US president, then Andrew Jackson did it before Theodore Roosevelt was born.

I suspect half the country would agree with you. The other half would like Teddy Roosevelt cancelled.

Maybe the toughest. What other President led an uphill infantry assault against enemy forces through intense rifle fire.

A high proportion of his predecessors were combat veterans, including William McKinley, who rose from private to major in the Civil War.

Even though I hated his imperialistic views (and I also didn't think much of his passion for hunting), TR is at the top of my list of favorite presidents. He really seemed to care about making life better for most people, he was the first POTUS to invite a black man to have dinner with him at the White House, and he fought the corruption of big business tycoons with as much passion as anything else -- plus he will have my everlasting appreciation for preserving so much of this beautiful country by such means as the Antiquities Act. And also, btw, he is also in the top ten of the most intelligent people who have ever become POTUS according to most guesstimates. https://moneywise.com/life/entertain...iny-presidents

Sounds like you are in favor of changing the requirements for being US president to include having served in the military
