This would be a good topic. Everyone has a story.
In my hometown of Riverside Calif. , The Mission Inn (a local hotel) had a "special" chair built for Taft. He wasn't amused. The chair is still in the hotel though.

Taft was the only former president to serve on the Supreme Court...
I never really thought much one way or the other about him...but as you look into it, he is quite interesting ..as are other obscure presidents

I think the unsung president is Zachary Taylor. Presided over the final push of the United States to the Pacific. Yet nobody really talks about him.

New topic - did mankind contribute to the "Little Ice Age" or "The Year Without A Summer?"

If we are responsible for global warming, why aren't we responsible for global cooling?

New topic - Just how badly did the Greeks ruin Greece with deforestation and industry - on a similar note, does anyone have descriptions of the forests that created the "Cedars of Lebanon?" The pictures of the remaining forest in National Geographic pre-Isreal were pretty dismal.

New topic - why do descriptions of Tesla's flying machine sound suspiciously like a flying saucer?

New topic - why did Clemens take such a liking to U.S. Grant?

There are a lot of posters on CD who actually can argue a viewpoint well enough to make you see their point. A lot of times I don't even agree with them- but they make such good arguements... . How about a thread about ones favorite CD writers and why.
