Shackleton had an amazing life, not only in his final expedition where he lost his life, but in previous Antarctic expeditions (the loss of the Endurance I think was his second expedition and it's a great survival story). I will check out the link, the frozen seas of the Antarctic I am sure did preserve it well.
The book "South" by Shackleton is his personal account of the Endurance. It is one of my favorite books and probably the greatest adventure story of all time. It is amazing to see the photos of Endurance sitting in 10,000 feet of water in such pristine condition after 115 years.
Really fascinating! I've read "Endurance" by Alfred Lansing...what an adventure!
I used to work a couple of months every year in Christchurch, NZ, right next to the US Antarctic Support Program (Operation Deep Freeze) hangar. I even stumbled upon the birthplace of Frank Worsley (the Endurance captain) in Akaroa, NZ one year.
Before I die, I hope to visit Shackleton's grave at Grytviken, South Georgia Island.

I had never heard of this shipwreck, but I saw the news scroll across the bottom of the TV screen yesterday, and then someone who knew it would interest me sent the article.
