Came from riches of tsar's Russia. Billions worth of gems. gold, art , e.t.c anything collectable. Basically Russia was robbed by Bolsheviks and its deep state. From day one they were selling that to the banks, auctions, for hard currency , political bribes, paid for Soviet Industrialization, KGB activities, even bribes to recognize the USSR in 1933. Mountains of valuables were confiscated from state and private sources...

Fyi, read a research (in Russian), i knew some of the facts but never suspected of that massive level of event, Soviet Union paid by itself for its rebuilding with peoples treasury, not by 'good will' of some Capital but they had to pay for the 'good will' itself. Living there i knew about deep state behavior as real owners of the country but dud not suspect where money came to pay for it. That is why i needed to share .

I started watching that movie, thanks, it was definetelly inspired buy events... But, as i said, 'size' of the events was equal or more than 1000 Tonnes of pure gold...

8133.46 Tonnes official number of US gold holdings, so, how much of it is tsar's gold.

They were utterly desperate. The country had just been through WWI AND a 5-year revolution spanning not only western Russia but also all of north Asia. The country was in ruins. Of course they spent, pawned, stole and sold much of what they could find in the palaces. Although the also preserved a lot, which is there for everyone to see.

Still, even if the Bolshevik Revolution hadn't happened, and other democratic reformers had taken over, they'd have had to do the similar, to get the nation onto a solid footing after the war.
