I was born to the descendants of Hungarian immigrants..As a young man I struggled at a variety of professions including working as a stage diver (a role that I would late reprise on screen). I would later take a job a salesman selling alluminum siding before I returned to the stage in middle age. I later became succesful after I renamed myself with a moniker that had previously been used by both Jack Benny and Ricky Nelson at different times. My biggest period of fame and success was achieved in my 60s and I was a notable celebrity until my death.

My brother and I narrowly escaped being put to death by the king of our country of birth. He and I traveled the world together, and immigrated together to the USA, and became naturalized citizens and owned slaves. Our wives were sisters, and both of us had sons who fought for the Confederacy in the Civil War. I died shortly after learning of the death of my brother, at the age of 63. We contributed an enduring expression to the English language.

(I will be out of town for a few days, so I hope someone gets this fairly easy one with any additional clues.)

Correct. Eng was the one who lived longer.

I'm out with a flu right now, so I'll pass on my turn to whoever wants it.

I was an executive producer for a picture that won five oscars, and I published some songs recorded by several well known singers. I also guest conducted the Boston Pops orchestra, and I married Miss Universe, and was romantically linked to several marquee actresses. But I was much more famous for my political activities, and as such, I made a cameo appearance as myself in a comic-book-based TV series. As a young man, I wrote political pamphlets, that my wealthy father placed in every room in his chain of hotels. Those political leanings would eventually make my name a household word, well-known to every American. My wife and I were killed in a plane crash.

David Schine. G. David Schine. The French Connection was the referenced film. Somehow, I just figured Batman was the tv show, not that I recall the episode.
