You didn't specify favorite for what so I'll go with Ed Gein. Seriously messed up to mythical proportions. Quite possibly one of the most fascinating characters of the last 100 years.
His time as US President coincided with the best times of my life personally. He was not directly responsible, but the amazing swirling changes of those days were heady times.
I met him (as President) a couple of times, unexpectedly during my time as a volunteer for the National Park Service in the Washington DC area. A fine man with no artiface, whom you would like immediately. Had the irish gift for talk and that twinkle in his eye.
One of the most amazing things I have ever seen here in the nation's capitol, was RR's funeral. Folks from all over the country, an incredible assembly lining every street and waiting in lines all night long to pay their respects.
