I should not wish to neglect my favorite wrestler when I was a kid, The Great Malenko. He was the biggest villain star on the SE circuit during the '60's. He finished off his opponents by sitting on their backs, cupping their chins with his hands and yanking their heads back in what was called "The Russian Sickle."

Catherine the Great
I was hoping someone would mention Catherine
There are also 3 popes with "The Great" titles...and not only for religious , but also military deeds that changed the world

Another great Roman with that title is ''Constantine The Great'' as he was the first emperor to become christian and also founded what would be known as Constantinople the capitol of the Eastern Empire.

Well, it isn't an accepted practice yet, but I think in 20 years. Pope John Paul II will be Pope John Paul the Great.

Why? He was one more in a series of reactionary champions of myth based doctrine. He devoted a couple of decades to presiding over the South end of a North bound dinosaur, the Catholic Church. His helmsmanship was marked by the church taking a firm stand against allowing African Catholics to use condoms, despite the ravages of the AIDS plague which was killing millions. I'm sure that Jesus was pleased by this.

Great? He wasn't even good.

OK.. I think I got this Thread "Off-Topic" with my mention of the 3 Popes...
They were in the distant past...not contemporary ones.
Sorry about that... I did not want to get into religious controversy in this Thread!!! I'll go stand in the corner for an hour

The biggest big kahuna - Kamehameha the Great conquered the islands and formed the Kingdom of Hawai'i in 1810.

His name means "hard shell crab."

The Great Gretzky. Let us not forget him, either.

As far as the Great Gatsby is concerned, what was really so great about him? Huh?
