What famous American military figure never won the Medal of Honor, but had a brother who won the award twice?

That is correct, North Beach. Boston Custer perished with his more famous sibbling at Little Big Horn, but during his Civil War service, he was twice decorated with the nation's highest award for martial gallantry.

Say....is that North Beach as in San Francisco's North Beach? I lived in SF for twenty plus years, which is why I ask.

The quote was made, I believe, by the Pope's envoy when troops were sent to purge the so-called heretical Cathars from Southern France. The leader asked how they could distinguish those loyal to the Pope as opposed to the presumed heretics, hence, the quote.

I wonder if the word "cathartic" come from the name of the Cathars?

Sorry, I was behind the curve on Trudey Rose's question. I didn't see that it had been answered.

Nope, this North Beach is in SoMd along the Chesapeake.

Actually, the Custer who won the CMH twice (in a 3 day period, April 1865) was Tom Custer. At the Little Big Horn his body was so mutilated that the only way he could be identified was by a tattoo. Boston Custer was the youngest of the brothers and was a civilian forage master with the 7th Cavalry.

I'll stop, I'm being pedantic.

It's your turn to ask a question.

I was going to use "tear down this wall" then realized no one would know my wife when we moved into this house.
