This just came out over the wire as the last living survivor of the Titanic sinking in 1912 Millvina Dean died today in England at 97. She was only nine weeks old (youngest passenger aboard) when the tragic event happened as she was bundled up in a sack and carried to safety. Her mother and brother also survived it but her father died in the incident and she wasn't told about being a passenger on the famous sinking until she was 8 years old.

Yes, I noticed that! The last living link is gone, although she was too young to remember anything about it. I am somewhat surprised that out of over 2500 passengers, there weren't any younger babies. I can't help thinking of all that icy water.
I am a Sotonian though I never met Millvina, the Titanic still looms quite large in folk lore here.
