I found this mostly color film footage of WW1 (6:22 min) that some of the people on here who like WW1 like our mod Trudyrose and some others will enjoy as the footage has been restored fantastically.

Here's another cool video as it's the sinking of the Austrian/Hungarian Battleship ''Szent Istvan'' that took 2 torpedos by an Italian torpedo boat during WW1.

It's amazing how much everyone seemed to look forward to World War One. They thought it would be over in six weeks, and they all seemed to think it would be a piece of cake. They just didn't realize how much war had changed with the machine gun.

WW I was primarily concentrated in eastern France- 'trench warfare'

the eastern front was sort of 'nebulous with Czarist Russia the the German Empire.

World war II was far more destructive - and took on an aura of genocide.

WHAT!? They never stopped, are you referring to the Allied reinforcements!? They were about to destroy Austria-Hungary & the Germans came to bail them out. The Allied forces on the Italian Front after the reinforcement arrived consisted of 57 divisions
  • 51 Italian
  • 3 British
  • 2 French
  • 1 Czechoslovak
  • 1 US regiment
7,700 guns
Yeah, the Italians really stopped fighting there.

Hey Commando.....

Instead of flooding the board by reviving every single thread which has ever mentioned Italy during WW II and adding short, hit and run style comments, why don't you start a single thread devoted to the topic? We do not need 20 threads talking about one thing and by doing what you are doing, you are shoving new, active topics from the front page.

Okay? You have but one topic, Italy in WW II, so why not one thread?

Yeah what Grandstander said

Could be a good topic, like their vertical battles vs the Austrians in the Tyrol in WW1, fascinating stuff
