Native Americans east of the MS adapted and utilized many of the techniques of Europeans in warfare. For whatever reason, I don't know, this did not occur West of the MS. One factor may have been that leadership was more centralized east of the MS than west.

Still many of the accounts of native american attacks above reflect their moving with British forces who actually used the artillery not the tribes.

Generally they would attack settlers when they were outside the fort (non-military forts) doing their daily activities.

They were accompanied by 12 French Canadian militiamen fighting for the Brits. I don't believe there were actually any British regulars involved.

I'm a direct descendent of a number of the settlers at the fort. Very glad the Indians lost that one.

Correct, I just thought it simpler to say Brits; auxiliaries so to speak.

There were regulars with Byrd's expedition and with Caldwell at Blue Licks. And many Great Lakes Indians, like the Wyandotts that whipped Estill.

Native americans participated in British operations under Burgoyne and St Ledger in the 1778 campaign. Their killing of a woman in the Burgoyne campaign was central to rallying colonist against him. He would have been better to leave them behind, they achieved little militarily.

Are you sure soldiers didn't go out and make friends with indians, clean up the environment, fall in love with white women living with the indians and keep pet wild wolves?

Well at least the picture gave Wes Studi a good role; that guy is good in everything he does and IMO should have gotten the supporting actor Oscar for his job as Magua.
