Inconsequential number of slaves were owned by Native Americans.
We know the numbers of native Americans owning slaves was very small compared to whites who owned slaves but some tribes did own slaves. Now shouldn't people at least know about this? You do agree that this part of slavery should be taught, right?
My great great great grandfather's family owned over 500 slaves and were forced to sell them when old Andy Jackson was preparing to move them to Oklahoma....they were wise...they sold their slaves, land and most of their possessions three years before the forced removal and bought rich land in Ohio and then my great great grandfather sold that out and moved on to Iowa...ironically the next generation moved to Nebraska and married into the Ponca tribe....still have relatives in Oklahoma and related to a host of African-Americans from the North Carolina area...great great great granpa was a good breeder...aho

Chief Vann and Major Ridge of The Cherokee Nation owned many slaves.
Inconsequential number of slaves were owned by Native Americans. Confront the issue. The South was an evil institution what needed to be exterminated like a cockroach infestation.
When Andrew Jackson forced the Cherokee off their land and initiated the Trail of Tears (an unforgivable act that would be considered genocide today and which rightfully keeps Jackson out of the "Great Presidents" list, even though he would otherwise qualify), the Cherokees, in arguing that they were fully American, brought up the fact that they were slaveowners and thus had fully assimilated into the bad as well as the good aspects of America at that time. Not that they would've seen it as a bad thing, nor would have Old Hickory - who himself owned slaves and didn't do anything to end slavery even though he viewed slavery as being a doomed institution bound to disappear in the long run.
