Men are as diverse as women and everyone is different, so suggesting a hobby to you is a waste of time. There are other factors that go into what makes an "activity" fun and, without those right ingredients, the same activity is just boring. For example, a buddy to to it with.

He also needs to "want" to do something. You can't drag a couch potato to run a marathon. He will need to experience the "fun" factor the first time, otherwise he will most likely not motivated to try again.

I think woodworking has died out. Just like most kinds of like skilled carpentry. My friends dad was a master at wood working. Not only could he build extremely high quality furniture, he was also an excellent artist with wood. He actually had a side business carving and selling custom caricature statues. He worked as an electrical engineer for a Fortune 100 company and did this all in his spare time. I've never seen any one of my generation or younger that had that type of skill or dedication to a craft.

I belong to a license plate collectors club. I'd say at least 95% of the members are male.
