At least for now I would pick malachite, because I love green, and malachite is so complex. It's also relatively common, though not sold in stores much. No two pieces are close to the same--I like how "organic" it is. I also have some agatized petrified wood that I love.
For countertops and bath, I would pick green marble.

I have a serious weak spot for Obsidian. Particularly the deep red with black streaks. We call it Bloodstone. The jet black is cool too. A guy can make some trick stuff with it as well. With some practice, and the right tools. I made my lady a keychain, with a piece of polished, black steer horn with a smallish , Obsidian kinife blade. Made it with Bloodstone, and it works dandy for any duty, minus as an improvised screwdriver, that a little pocket knife will do. And its purty. Lol
