fixed up a guitar back into playable condition. I traded an old overdrive pedal that I haven't touched in years for an '88 Applause GTX 22 solid body electric. Kid had a floyd rose installed on it, but it was installed improperly. I bought it for the Floyd Rose, so I took it off, put on a simple bridge, swapped out the old KMD pick ups for Seymour Duncans, truss rod adjustment with a thin slat of wood under the neck bolts. Refined and polished the frets, replaced the tuners with Grovers and installed new wiring for the toggler switches.

It was fun and now I have a playable guitar for basically nothing!

Any tinkerers here today?
Blinking lights on Breville toasters may indicate something's jammed inside there. Unplug it [obviously] and peek in there with a real strong flashlight.

I replaced some output relays in a Parasound 5-channel amplifier that were causing intermittent output.

Then I, too, mended a door screen.

Those are practically bullet-proof. Your great-great-grandchildren will probably still be using it!

Yea I dunno.......

Yesterday I found an amazing 8 track tape @ salvation army ... BLIND FAITH (1969) and it sounded amazing. Best sounding 8 track I think I have heard!!

Trouble is it was an AMPEX cartridge! (In case you guys dont know AMPEX made the crappiest 8 tracks of anyone) -- The roller in this tape WAS RUBBER and it was breaking apart - Disgusting!!

I opened the cartridge and replaced the roller but then it still wouldnt play well...... I examined closer and the tape was TOO TIGHT coming out of the center (The top) -- I dont know enough about 8 tracks to fix that sadly (I think it has to be completly RE-WOUND (All of it taken off the spool and put back on))........... I ordered another one and I hope it does not have the same problems.... (I dont know if its an AMPEX or not)

Its sad something so beautiful could be made so bad!!!!! (The sound that I did hear was amazing)

I am completly baffled how 8 tracks work @ all!!!!!!! -- Ya open the shell and its amazing what it looks like!!! -- How does it work?? -- Its really amazing.......

That is wild...we used a variation of them in our old alarm dialers..amazing clever design.

mcmelectronics.com used to have tons of old parts, maybe still some 8-track stuff.
