Hi! Has anyone who uses facebook experienced this - facebook deactivating your page saying that you "aren't using your real name"? And then asking you to scan and email them your government-issued ID?
This is a legitimate effort by Facebook to verify identities. They all of a sudden decided they want people to use real names, but they can't keep up with people creating new accounts. If anyone reports you for having a fake name, or if a Facebook employee comes across it, you'll be asked to verify your identity or your account will be disabled.
I had an account with a made-up name and a handful of friends that I used for news websites that wanted a Facebook login to comment. Facebook shut me down within 2 weeks and requested a government ID.
Did you use real name or fake name in your Facebook account?
Have your Facebook account get verified by text messaging (short message service aka SMS)?
Does your account have many friends in Facebook?
Facebook backed off of this from my understanding...
too many LGBTQ folks who have "stage names" etc.
